This antique Indian Himachal trunk is a testament to the beauty of timeworn craftsmanship and nomadic tradition. Originally crafted by the nomadic people of Northern India—an area known to host the Dalai Lama—this Himachal blanket chest or prayer chest was designed for both function and portability. Built using an ingenious dowel method, the trunk could be easily set up and broken down, making it an essential piece that traveled with the tribe from place to place. Handcrafted from solid wood with a weathered patina and iron hardware, it once stored textiles, valuables, or sacred items. Now, it serves as a stunning storage piece with both history and character.
